It is mandatory for all firms that are intending to do business in the state of Tamil Nadu to get themselves registered. The process for the same can be initiated by submitting the duly signed and authenticated partnership deed to the Registrar of Firms office. The Registrar will check the contents of the partnership deed to understand what the intent of the business is and then will record the same in the Register of Firms. After the same, a Certificate of Registration will be issued which will act as a legal proof for the firm in all the official transactions. The firm will also have to apply for a PAN Card which will help it in handling all the financial transactions.

The procedure for registering a partnership firm is fairly simple and easy. To start with, the partners should submit the following documents to the Registrar of Firms office:

Proof of address for the office (if it is in a rented space then an NOC from the landlord is required)

Copy of the partnership deed with all the details and attested by a notary.

Stamp duty charges must be paid for the document to make it legal. These charges vary from state to state. The affidavit should be signed by all the partners who are involved in the firm. It should be submitted along with the other documents and the fees. Once the affidavit is registered with the sub-registrar office, it will be valid for six months.
